To Belly, everything good and magical happens during the summer. During the summer she stays in a beach house in the town of Cousins with her mom, brother, Susannah, and most importantly Jeremiah and Conrad. They’re the boys Belly has known since her very first summer in Cousins and she’s experienced almost everything with them. However, this summer everything keeps changing, and the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should’ve been all along.
This book was on my TBR for a long time and after seeing that a show adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty came out, I decided to finally read the book. Personally, I thought this book was good but it wasn’t great. For most of the book, there wasn’t any character development, characters were just revealing secrets about themselves. I think Belly was very selfish and self-centered throughout a lot of the book which greatly bothered me. However, I enjoyed the love “rectangle” throughout the book and I also enjoyed getting to see Belly’s younger perspective too. I think this book is for you if you enjoy romance coming-of-age books but if you enjoy anything other than that I’m not sure this book is for you.
