One competition, twenty-three killers, warriors and thieves including Celaena Sardothien. Celaena is an 18-year-old assassin who lives in a land without magic and a king who rules with a high hand. Celaena is summoned to the castle not to kill royalty but to compete for her freedom. If she wins, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. Celaena becomes tangled in the evil that dwells inside the castle of glass. Her fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival as her competitors start dying one by one. Will she be able to root out the evil in the castle before it destroys her world?

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is one of my favorite books of all time because not only did it help me gain confidence in being a woman, but I could also find myself connecting to the problems that Celaena faced. From a love triangle to beating all of the boys in the competition, Celaena is a constant reminder of what women are capable of. There was not one time while reading this book that I was disappointed. The plot keeps you on your toes and leaves you pondering what is going to happen next. I would recommend this book to teenagers and those who love a good fantasy read!
