Throne of Glass is a novel written by Sarah J. Maas. The main character, Assassin Celaena Sardothien, is given a chance to earn her freedom from grueling labor in the Endovier mines. Her one shot at freedom depends on her winning a competition that will make her the kingdom of Adarlan’s Royal Assassin. After a year in the mines, she is already weak and malnourished putting her far behind the rest of the competition.
For months, I have heard about this book from friends, family, and my favorite social media accounts. So when I finally got the time to read it I was so excited that it lived up to the hype. Sarah J. Maas creates characters who you can’t help falling in love with. With their witty personalities and flawlessly written backstories, her characters are some of my favorites. The somewhat simple plot continues to grow throughout the book leaving me on the edge of my seat for the next book. Whatever I expected from Throne of Glass was nowhere close to the real thing. However, I am so glad I was wrong. Throne of Glass is a book I will be rereading many times in the future just so I can get a glimpse back into the world Sarah J. Maas created. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy as I believe it is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read. I would also suggest this book to anyone who appreciates a good plot with fantastic world-building. If you read it, you won’t regret it!
