Throne of Glass is the debut novel of arguably the best fantasy series of all time. Celaena Sardothien is a young woman who is brought out of a salt mine called Endovier in order to serve the King of Adarlan in a competition. She befriends the crown prince himself, Dorian Havilliard, along with the Captain of the Guard, Chaol Westfall. Celaena must compete against a variety of opponents in order to win the King’s favor, using her deadly assassin skills, for which she got arrested for in the first place. The winner will become the King’s Champion and be in charge of the crown’s dirty work. Luckily, Celaena has Princess Nehemia from Eyllwe to confide in, even if the princess isn’t aware of Celaena’s true assassin identity. However, Celaena’s life quickly gets more complicated with a love triangle, what appears to be a rigged competition, and mysterious murders in the castle.

I love this book. I promise I am not being dramatic when I say I would sell my soul to read this book for the first time again. Mostly because of the way the series progresses, I would love to reexperience all the plot twists and character development. I will say that this specific book isn’t the best writing in the series due to the author being younger when she wrote it, but it is still highly developed and much better than other books I have read. I love the setup and worldbuilding for the rest of the series in this book, and I can’t wait for whoever decides to pick up this book to set off on the journey of a lifetime.
