A talented and feared assassin currently serving time in a labor camp, Celaena Sardothien, is only eighteen years old. After a rough childhood that forced her to grow up too soon, she became a revered murderer of the rich and terrible, all while keeping her identity a secret. At least, until she is caught. Thrown into Endovier, the cruel salt mines became her place of torture for a year. Everything changes when the Crown Prince shows up, needing a champion for his games. Dorian drives a hard bargain, and Celaena agrees to his terms. They travel back to the capital, where the castle and the competition reside. Celaena must decide who her allies are, and whether looking out for herself will be the sole factor in securing her fate.

This might be one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. That being said, it wasn't the perfect read, but it certainly ticked all the boxes for me. I enjoyed the dialogue between characters, as well as the inner thoughts of Celaena during her trials. I would recommend this book to people that enjoyed Red Queen, as it has similar themes and overall pieces. This is definitely a book for younger teens, easy to follow, a cute fantasy book with a female lead who is independent and can protect herself. Overall, I would rate this book at a four point five out of five, as I really found myself immersed in the story and characters, and I look forward to the next book.
