The Titan’s Curse, Rick Riordan’s third book in the Percy Jackson series, is another great book in the series. In my opinion it is the most underrated of the series. The story starts with Percy and his friends heading back to Camp Half-blood with two new recruits. Artemis, a goddess, decides to go on a quest and sends her hunters back to Camp Half-blood in the meantime. While there, the oracle gives a quest stating five should go, and two will die. Percy isn’t included in the quest but decides to follow from a distance. After discovering the group is being followed, Percy reveals himself, and they decide to let him join. They travel to a graveyard, where after the group takes an item, a huge metal giant comes out and kills Bianca, a member of the group. When they get to California, they travel up to the mountain to find Artemis holding the sky up, which is the Titan’s Curse. Percy takes the burden while Artemis fights the Titan Atlas. Although another of the group dies, the group ultimately wins the battle.

The reason why I think this book is super underrated, is how well Riordan manages to continue the prophecy idea. The previous books had prophecies as well, however this one included the five will go and two will die. Despite this, the book is predictable, and still has twists throughout, managing to keep you on your toes. Additionally, the idea of the Goddess Artemis having a group of Hunters is very cool, and this book lets you get a closer look at the group. While I don’t think this book is as good as the last one in the series, I will still give it 5 stars because it is a solid book. The arc of Percy, Luke and Annabeth continues in a very good dynamic and continues to create a very interesting story.
