Tower of Dawn shifts the series’ focus onto Chaol Westfall, Nesryn Faliq, and Yrene Towers, as Chaol and Nesryn work to form an alliance with the Khagan of the Southern Continent, while Yrene is assigned to heal Chaol’s injuries that put him in a wheelchair. Yrene and Chaol work together to heal Chaol’s injuries while Nesryn and Prince Sartaq travel to the rukhin clans and learn about the secrets of the Stygian Spiders. Although this book acts as a secondary perspective of the events that occur in Empire of Storms, it’s full of complicated relationships and emotional twists that leave the reader wanting more. In addition, this book served as a redemption for Chaol and showed new aspects of his character. I adored getting to know Yrene and see her grow more confident with herself and her powers. I do think, however, that this book could’ve been shortened, as it seemed to drag on at times. But, getting to see an entirely different part of the world that was built in this series was so much fun, and this book proved to be a vital part to the overall story.
