Treasure Hunters is a graphic novel, the eighth book of a 9-book series called Bone. At the end of the last book, the Bones, Thorn, Grandma, and Bartleby are about to arrive at Atheia. The humans free Lucius from the Disciples of Venu who had claimed he was a traitor. Now in this book, the group visits Grandma's old mentor at the old royal city. While they talk, Thorn is pulled into the dreaming world and Briar almost manages to take her away, but Thorn survives at the last moment. While she was still there, she said a word she had learned from seeing the ghost of her mother in a ghost circle earlier, which was supposed to be key to defeating the Lord of the Locusts, which frightened Briar. A meeting is held with all the old dragon warrior army, and they find out that the Disciples of Venu (who believe in following Venu, a disciple of the dragons, rather than the dragons themselves, even though they hate dragons) have taken control of Atheia after the old war around 15 years ago, and they'd need to take them down to take control of the city to summon the dragons and fight. However, the Disciples discover their presence in the city. Will they find them and put an end to the only way to fight the Locusts and Briar, or will Thorn prevail?
This book was interesting because of all the building suspense. We continue learning more and more about the ancient history of the Valley and what part Thorn has in fighting the Lord of the Locusts. Smith adds humor to this dangerous storyline by keeping Smiley, Phoney Bone, and Bartleby in the picture, with all the humorous things they try to do. Because of all this, I give this book a five out of five.
