Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover is a romance novel that explores the complexities of love, loss and the challenges of emotional vulnerability. The story follows Tate Collins, a nursing student who recently moved in with her brother in San Francisco. She quickly meets Miles Archer, a handsome yet guarded pilot who lives across the hall. There is an immediate strong connection between the two, however Miles refuses to explore their connection because of his last relationship pains. The two agree to a no-strings attached relationship, allowing them to indulge in their physical connection while blocking any emotional attachment. Tate is forced to push her feelings down due to the walls that Miles puts up to stop their connection. The books flashed back and forth each chapter to Miles's past, showing to the reader slowly why he is so guarded. As the story continues to unfold, Tate must face the reality of her situation. Leading to her discovery of how love can be beautiful, but also extremely painful, leaving readers with a sense of heartache and hope.
This book was an incredible read! I was constantly interested and wanting to flip to the next page. How the book flashes from the past of one character to the present of another is captivating and makes it a difficult book to put down.
