This book is about a girl named Wren. She is a 7th grader who goes through lots of changes when her parents get divorced and her dad's remarried. She moves with her mom she starts getting into a new obsession with special effects makeup videos and an internet sensation named Cat FX. She tries to duplicate one of the techniques but somehow she cannot! Wren's mom tells her to stop using her laptop, so she agrees to do makeup for a Middle School production. She's so involved with new friendships made during the musical “Wicked” that she does not notice the disappearances from her mom or the pills in her mom’s cabinet. After some time she realizes her mission, and so she sets out to find Cat FX.
I think this book is really good for someone who likes realistic fiction and books about middle school and makeup. I would rate this book four stars because of the detail given in each chapter. You can tell that the author put a lot of time and effort into this book. If you like realistic fiction books about middle school and makeup you should read the book Violets Are Blue by Barbara Dee.
