Warrior’s Refuge is a graphic novel as part of a 3-book miniseries called Graystripe’s Adventure by Erin Hunter, overall part of the Warriors books. This book is the sequel to the first book The Lost Warrior. In the first book, Graystripe meets Millie, a pet cat, who becomes friends with him and decides to leave her old life behind to journey with him to find the clans. In this book, as they are traveling, they stay with a few cats and their kits, who live in a barn house. The humans are really unfriendly to the cats, but Graystripe and Millie find a solution. Finally, at the end of the book, when Graystripe and Millie reach the forest, a grave surprise is waiting for them.
I liked reading Warrior’s Refuge, because the plot with the barn cats was interesting. It was pretty amusing to find out that Millie could speak a bit of dog. Also, it was nice to see that Graystripe and Millie repaid the cats who hosted them by amending their relationships with the humans. I liked how the book ended with a big cliffhanger to make the reader more excited about the next book. However, in the main warrior series, Graystripe is playful and kind, but in this series, he is much more grumpy. I didn’t understand why his character changed, and because it didn’t really make any sense, I give this book a 4 out of 5.
