At 10:00 a.m., the principal of Opportunity High School finishes her speech welcoming students back from winter break.
At 10:02 a.m., students get up to leave the auditorium for class.
At 10:03 a.m., the auditorium doors won't open.
At 10:05 a.m., someone starts shooting.
This story is told from 4 different perspectives over the span of 54 terrifying minutes. Fear reigns as a former student's revenge turns into a game of survival.

I do not think this is an accurate depiction of a school shooting situation, but it was gripping all the same. I could barely put it down. The reasons for the shooter to do what he did were also unrealistic, his sister is the one to blame because she 'decided' to be a lesbian? and his girlfriend breaks up with him because he sexually assaults a girl? Like, his problems with the school and the people in it were very much caused by him and his fault.

Warning: there is some pretty extreme homophobia in this book, tread cautiously.
