Wild Wishes and Windswept Kisses by Maya Prasad is a book about four girls Nidhi, Avani, Rani, and Sirisha who are sisters and best friends. After spending the last couple of months in India, Nidhi is finally coming back to the USA to visit her family on Orcas Island, but she gets caught in a windstorm and is struggling to make it on time to sister Rani’s short film contest along with her ex-boyfriend Grayson. During the mayhem with her sister, Rani is at her short film contest and seems perfectly content with her relationship with her boyfriend, Raj. During the contest, something comes up with Raj, and Rani is left feeling disappointed and wondering what will happen to their relationship. Avani is still deciding what she wants to do for college. She is feeling incredibly stressed and on top of all this, her relationship with her boyfriend Fernando is struggling. Avani suspects that they will split up soon and is trying to reignite the spark between them. Finally, Sirisha is trying to get over her first heartbreak with her girlfriend Brie. The thing is Brie still wants to be friends with her. Everyone acts like they know everything about Sirisha and her life, so Sirisha is ready for a change. Will the four sisters overcome their life challenges, or will they all have to keep trying?
This book has many chapters that talk about things like heartbreak, how to find yourself, being confident, and overcoming sadness. I like the author's writing style especially in this book because it has pieces of poetry incorporated in the book. After all, Avani likes to express herself through poetry. This book is good for people who are in the 12-18-year-old age range as it has some mature aspects like clubbing and heartbreak. I recommended this book to others because it is just a good but romantic book, and you fall in love with the characters.
