Clay, one of five dragonets who are prophecised to bring an end to the 20 year war in
Pyrrhia, wants to see the world with his friends after living under a mountain for their whole
lives. However, when the dragonets try to sneak out they are captured by the ruthless Queen
Scarlet of the Skywings’s guards and forced to fight in her area. The dragonets form a plan and
escape with some inside help and go off to explore the world and find their families that they
never met. I first read this book when I was in third grade and it made me fall in love with
reading. Amazing writing and easy to understand conflicts make this an enjoyable read and one
that I would recommend to anyone looking for an easy but engaging story. I would give this book
a 4 out of 5 because though it is a great story, it isn’t a very complex or thought-provoking one.
Definitely more well suited for an easy day off rather than the subject for a literature essay.
