Patrick Rothfuss’s book, The Wise Man’s Fear, is the sequel to The Name of the Wind. The book continues the path of Kvothe, however while the first book focused more on his life at the university, this book takes a different path and follows him as he travels throughout the world. Going from Severen to the forests in the North, and then to Ademre, Kvothe faces different threats while still searching for knowledge on the Amyr and Chandrian.
This book was not nearly as good as the first book. This book, while it develops Kvothe’s character, spends a ton of time developing other characters that aren’t very important. The amount of time spent in the forest trying to find the Bandits is nearly 100 pages, and it just drags on too long. The good parts happen at the end of the long sequences, and the moments with Denna. The Felurian part was a little weird and seemed to be thrown into the book. It was not my favorite book but still a solid book as I would give it three stars.
