Axie Oh’s XOXO is an adorable contemporary romance novel. All Jenny wants is to be accepted into a prestigious music conservatory, but when she meets Jaewoo at her uncle’s karaoke bar in Los Angeles, her life will change drastically. Suddenly, Jenny finds herself moving to South Korea to take care of her sick grandmother. Unbeknownst to her, the boy she met in the karaoke bar is a famous K-pop idol. Jaewoo and Jenny are drawn to each other, but he’s forbidden from dating and Jenny doesn’t want anything to distract her from her dreams. Somehow, the two must find a way to be together. This book was a cute, fun read, but it lacks originality and sticks to the typical forbidden romance plot. I recommend this novel for a quick, entertaining break from reality.
