Jacintha Cross, who goes by Jack, is a woman in her late twenties and is the prime suspect of her husband, Gabe’s, murder. Jack wants to find her husband’s actual murderer and prove herself innocent. Jack becomes a fugitive, evading the police and running from the law while still trying to find the actual killer. Jack eventually finds the killer and gains enough evidence to prove herself innocent, returning home, but still missing Gabe.
I greatly enjoyed the book's plot, but I needed clarification on a few matters. To start, I’d never heard of someone who would get hired to test security by breaking into places, which left me confused as to why she was an expert in breaking into homes and evading the police. Another thing that left me disappointed was that the writing seemed a bit jumpy at times. It would go from exciting action or suspense to a dull moment or even something childish. Overall, I would not recommend this book for anyone with similar preferences to mine, but I still think it’s a good fit for plenty of readers.
