The Hating Game by Sally Thorne is a romantic realistic fiction novel following the story of two coworkers who are enemies. The coworkers Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman are assistants to the co-CEOs that run a publishing company. The publishing company was established when the Gamin and Bexley publishing companies merged. Each company had a set way of doing business and even after the merger, the employees don’t get along and often keep to themselves.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens is a realistic fiction novel. The book follows the character Kya as she navigates growing up alone and apart from the rest of society. The novel details her journey and her constant growth of knowledge through the highs and lows of friendships, romantic relationships, work, etc. She lives in an area called “the Marsh” and enjoys her lifestyle being one with the wilderness.

Verity, by Colleen Hoover, is a fiction novel filled with suspense and romance. The book is told from the perspective of Lowen who is an author with a struggling career in New York. However, her career takes an unexpected turn when Jeremy Crawford shows up in her life. He offers her the job of a lifetime: finishing his wife’s famous book series. As Lowen begins her new job she is faced with challenges along the way. Lowen discovers secrets that Jeremy’s hurt wife, Verity Crawford, never intended to get out.

The Giver, by Louis Lowry, is a Science Fiction book. Jonas, who lives in a futuristic society, is selected to be the new receiver of memory. In his community, there are strict rules. For example, one being the precision of language. Therefore, the people in the community do not know colors, feelings, and holidays. Jonas, when selected to be the new receiver of memory, has to hold the painful experiences that occurred in their past. Will Jonas be able to handle the pain and continue living in his community?
