Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi is a wonderfully written novel that follows teenager Juliette Ferrars and her journey through a tumultuous world. Juliette was born with a lethal touch. Anyone she touches experiences immense pain and eventually dies. The book starts with Juliette imprisoned inside a mental asylum. She then is introduced to one Adam Kent, who is a soldier. They are imprisoned together, and there is one thing that shocks Juliette to her core- her touch doesn’t hurt him. They become closer and eventually try to escape from the clutches of Aaron Warner, a seemingly ruthless young man. However, there is more to him than there seems to be. Juliette must learn how to be herself without anyone else telling her how to do that, and it is much harder than she perceived it to be.

I give this book four stars. I love this series as a whole, as well as this particular book. Juliette is an amazing character, and her development is inspiring to read about. Aaron Warner is honestly my favorite character and I very much believe that he is simply misunderstood. Adam is really quite annoying in my opinion, but to each their own. I love this book and can’t wait to reread it later!
