When 16 year old Starr Carters’s friend Kahlil is shot by a police officer everything changes in

her life. Starr struggles as police and other members of her town, Garden Heights, try to get her

to tell the story of what really happened that night. When half the town justifies why Kahlil got

shot and the other half is scared and Starr is under a lot of pressure. I thought this was a

wonderful book that is a must read for everyone. This book has a wonderful message for

everybody. One hundred percent recommend this book.
