The Hidden Kingdom by Tui T. Sutherland is a graphic novel which is a very exciting book to read, and it is also the third book of the Wings of Fire series. This book is through Glory’s perspective and the setting if the story is in the Rainforest Kingdom. All her life Glory has heard that she was a useless and worthless Rainwing, she always wanted to prove people otherwise, she believes that her tribe was also like her, and they were different from what everyone says they are.
Children of the Fox is a story about Callen, a thief who has to steal to live, but one day all of that changes. When Callen is offered a deal that might mean he’ll never have to steal again he’s faced with many hard decisions that might change the world forever. I loved this book because it has so may plot twists and you get to see Foxtail from Callen’s point of view. My favorite part is when Callen is introduced to his team, and my favorite character is Foxtail because she’s really kind and funny.
Belladonna, a fresh new fantasy from Adalyn Grace, got me up with high hopes when I first heard of it. A beautiful cover? An intriguing premise? Young adult fantasy? Sign me up! However, I was incredibly let down with the romance. Literally everything else was fine, just I really wanted the romance to not be the way it was.
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare follows Clary Fray, a seemingly ordinary teenager in New York City, who discovers a hidden world of demon hunters called Shadowhunters after witnessing a murder committed by beings only, she can see. Clary's mother is kidnapped, and she must navigate this dangerous new reality, teaming up with the enigmatic Jace Wayland and his fellow Shadowhunters to rescue her mother and uncover the truth about her own hidden heritage.
Circe is a novel about Greek mythology. The book takes us on a journey through Circe's life. It starts off with her childhood taking us all the way through her adolescent years. The book depicts her journey as she tries to find herself and learn to accept herself in a world where she is always misjudged and not accepted.
The Betrothed is a fantasy novel about a young lady named Hollis who is dating the king. As she gets a taste of life as queen, she realizes that being royal is harder than she thought. When she decides to flee the castle after the king explains that their children are his and not theirs, she finds peace in the country with a new lover. Soon a tragic event tears her from her family and she must decide if she will be alone or cling on to those, she never knew she needed.
The Cruel Prince is a coming of age trilogy written by Holly Black which follows Jude Duarte. The first novel follows Jude as she tries to find her place in Faerie. Throughout the novel, she will do anything to reach her goal which in turn, forms unlikely partnerships. This novel has elements of cruelty and romance. For someone who's looking for lots of romance, this is probably not the book for you, unless you want to commit to the whole series. I would rate this book a 4.2 out of 5 as it is very plot heavy.
Keeper of the Lost Cities is the first of many books by Shanon Messenger. It’s about 12 year old Sophie Foster who learns something that will change the world as she knows it to change completely. I think this book is fantastic because it has lots of action and fun characters. My favorite part is when Sophie meets Dex, my favorite character. The writing style of this book is great, because it’s all from Sophie’s point of view. I would recommend this book for late elementary or middle school readers.
