Scythe by Neal Shusterman is a book in a futuristic world where people can’t die. The only people who can take lives are scythes. These people’s jobs are to kill people to prevent the world from becoming overpopulated. The story follows Citra and Rowan, two kids chosen to be apprentices to Scythe Faraday. As they enter the Scythe world, Citra and Rowan start seeing the corruption and moral dilemmas.

Taking place in a dystopian society, protagonist Kathy takes the role of a carer who helps donors. Purposely vague, author Kazuo Ishiguro unmasks the history, the memories, and the truth about Hailsham - the school Kathy and her friends are raised in. During her time there, we learn a lot about Kathy’s personality and mentality, getting detailed descriptions of her favorite events and amusing stories about her friends.

Renegades, by Marissa Meyer, is an amazing book that blurs the lines of good and evil. In a society where super-powered people, or prodigies, were once oppressed, the Renegades have risen to power, portraying themselves as guardians of the people and bringers of hope. Nova sees things differently. She sees the Renegades as power hungry murderers who failed the city they promised to protect.
