Lover is Taylor Swift’s 7th studio album, following a summer-y pop narrative. It was released on August 23, 2019, by Republic Records. The album comprises 18 songs total, all with amazing beats and lyricism. There are four singles on this album; ‘The Man’, ‘Me!’, ‘You Need to Calm Down’, and, of course, ‘Lover’. A fun fact: the album was originally supposed to be called "Daylight," but Taylor decided to change the name to Lover instead! 

Mothers Laurel and Sussanah have been best friends since they were young. So, it became a tradition for them to bring their families together every summer to the summer house at Cousins. Laurel’s kids Belly and Steven come together with Sussanah’s kids, Conrad and Jeremiah. As the kids settle into the home, it becomes apparent that something has changed this summer. Belly has grown up into a young woman. Not only are there physical differences but Conrad is acting differently. The book goes through the summer as the kids change, and romantic feelings develop. I loved this book so much.

If Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid had to be described in one word–that word would be summer. The story is so captivating, and it’s one of those books where you don’t realize where the time has gone. I definitely recommend reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo first, but Malibu Rising follows the four kids of Mick Riva, a famous singer. 

All of Belly Conklin’s life she’s spent summer at cousins in the summer house. The

Conklin’s family friends the fishers have two boys around belly’s age, Conrad and Jeremiah.

Belly has had the biggest crush on moody Conrad since she was little but both boys only think

of Belly as family. One summer everything changes both boys actually see Belly as a girl and the

whole summer is a rollercoaster of emotions and confusion for Belly.

Every year in the summer, the wealthy Sinclair family returns to their private island in

Massachusetts. Cady looks forward to reuniting with her family, composed of Mirren, Johnny,

and Gat - the Liars. As Cady experiences hardships and love during summer, her migraines

intensify, until she’s left questioning her own sanity. And her friendships quickly turn destructive

as she edges closer to the truth...

Banter that makes you giggle while swinging your feet back and forth. Witty comebacks

and relatable characters. Book Lovers is most likely one of the best contemporary romances I’ve

read this year.

she doesn’t want to know.
