The Alchemyst is the first book of a 6-book series called The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. Nicholas Flamel was a real person, an alchemist said to have discovered the elixir of life which would make you immortal. The records showed that he died in 1418. Josh and Sophie Newman are two twins living in San Francisco during the summer. Josh is working at a bookstore and his boss is a man named Nick Fleming.

Feyre’s job is to hunt and provide for her impoverished family, but this job comes with its dangers. The forest bordering her cabin is the only thing separating her village from the land of the Faerie, which makes it exceedingly dangerous.

In A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, Feyre is a human girl who lives with her two sisters and father. Feyre and her family live in a world where they are separated from faeries by a wall. Feyre’s family is extremely poor, and she is the only reason they are able to survive because she hunts in the forest near her house. One day, she encounters a huge wolf which she effortlessly kills with an arrow. Little did she know that the wolf was really a faerie in disguise.

Yusuf Azeem Is Not a Hero by Saadia Faruqui, is about a boy named Yusuf Azeem and his troubles with being an immigrant Muslim in America. He is starting 6th grade in this close to the 20th anniversary of 9/11. With all the “never forget” banners around the school Yusuf starts to feel like he does not belong. Then on the first day of 6th grade he starts getting mean and racist notes in his locker. Yusuf is a boy who likes robotics and likes to code. He is very smart and brave.
