Introduced as a historical fiction romance, The Poetry of Secrets by Cambria Gordon

becomes much more than just a love story: it is the story of identity, family, loyalty, feminism,

religion, and internal conflict, all during the Spanish Inquisition in Spain in 1481. This novel follows

Isabel Perez, a converso, or a Jew forced to convert to Catholicism. But like many conversos in Spain

Punk 57 is a teen romance novel. The book

takes us through the journey of two people

who were paired together in a pen pal project

in the 3rd grade and have been writing to

each other ever since then. What the catch?

They’ve never seen or met each other. One of

my favorite lines in the whole book is “we

were perfect together until we met,” I think

that this line is significant because it

symbolizes both Reyen and Mishas’ journey

throughout the book. The book is a wonderful

Twilight is perhaps the quintessential YA romance novel, notorious for its movie

adaptation and public division over the love interests. Bella Swan has just left her big-city life in

Phoenix to join her father in the small forested town of Forks, Washington. Not even past the

first day of school, she begins to notice odd things - like the pale and beautiful but isolated

family that is the Cullens. Especially Edward Cullen - who seems completely infuriated and
