This book is amazing. Although the title is pretty cheesy, this book really

does show what a true relationship can look like, full of ups and downs. Sick

Kids in Love is written from the perspective of main character Isabel. Isabel

isn’t your average teenager, which adds so much more to the book. She has a

hard home life, which is explained throughout the book. Not only that, but

she deals with rheumatoid arthritis on a regular basis, something that most

Alex & Eliza, by Melissa de la Cruz, tells the story of Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler’s

romance. Set in the late eighteenth century, Eliza is the daughter of a high standing family that

has lost most of their money. She meets Alexander, a poor young soldier from the West Indies,

at her family’s ball. The two immediately disagree and separate as enemies. As one of three

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater tells the story of Grace and Sam, two teenagers living in the

fictional town of Mercy Falls, Minnesota. Grace is a daughter to two neglectful parents who

spends most of her time watching the local wolf population. Her fascination with the wolves has

persisted ever since one saved her when she was a small girl. However, when she meets a boy

with the same yellow eyes as the wolf who has always looked out for her, her life’s trajectory

Malinda Lo’s Last Night at the Telegraph Club is a touchingly

bittersweet novel about young, forbidden love in the 1950s. Lily Hu is a

Chinese American teenager living in San Francisco in the midst of the Red-

Scare panic of 1954. One day, she starts talking with her classmate, Kath

Miller, and feels a spark of true connection between them. Their

relationship starts to blossom through the course of the novel as they

the ultimate honor: valedictorian. As their high school reaches its culmination and a

long-awaited game of Howl begins, they find themselves in the strange position to overcome

hunt/manhunt, they begin to discover they have more in common than they thought. Though

The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon is about a brief encounter between Natasha, a Jamaican

immigrant trying to save her family from being deported, and Daniel, a Korean immigrant who is

forced into studying medicine by his parents. These two characters spend only about 24 hours

together, but the story narrating their adventures together is truly remarkable. This book is about

Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven is a sweet story about two characters who have their

own personal struggles and over the course of the book they come together to accept their

differences and form an amazing bond. This book deals with important issues such as

self-confidence, and it will definitely make you smile by the end. I only gave it 3 stars because it

was a little bit more difficult for me to stay interested than with other novels, but overall it's a

The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, is a dramatic teenage-romance book that spawned several

others in the genre.

Red, White & Royal Blue, by Casey McQuiston, is a wonderful combination of scandals, romance, and

politics.
