Slowly but surely, the two get closer and closer - but with a missing brother, a spy mission, and vengeful games of croquet added to the mix, it’s unclear if they will ever be able to actually admit their feelings for each other.
Keeper of the Lost Cities is the first of many books by Shanon Messenger. It’s about 12 year old Sophie Foster who learns something that will change the world as she knows it to change completely. I think this book is fantastic because it has lots of action and fun characters. My favorite part is when Sophie meets Dex, my favorite character. The writing style of this book is great, because it’s all from Sophie’s point of view. I would recommend this book for late elementary or middle school readers.

She is offered a chance at a new life when she is recruited into Lethe House, a secret society at Yale University that monitors and regulates magic and occult activities among the elite students.
The City of Ember is a tale about a rundown underground city due to a mysterious disaster. This story follows Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow who live inside the crumbling city. They must hurry to solve clues to get everyone out before the lights go out forever. I like how this book leaves you clinging to every word so once you start you can’t stop! My favorite part is when they get to choose their jobs and when they are exploring the pipeworks.
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is a story about a girl named Minli who lives in a poor village on Fruitless Mountain. After hearing a story about how the old man of the moon, who lived on the top of Never-Ending Mountain could grant you one wish, Minli decided to start her search for the old man of the moon. Along the way she meets a talking fish, a king, and even a dragon. I love this book because there are alot of unexpected twists and fun characters.
The Selection is a novel about America Singer. America gets a letter in the mail one day that explains how she could enter the Selection to become the next queen of Illea. Unlike the rest of the young women in the country, America doesn’t want to enter. She already has the rest of her life figured out, and it includes her secret love Aspen. But, when Aspen begs her to enter so he won’t feel bad, she decides to enter and her life changes instantly.
Circe by Madeline Miller is a retelling of the ancient Greek myth of the witch-goddess Circe.
