However, her own mortality, the death of Prince Dane who she was serving, the death of 3 princesses, and the subsequent power grab of Prince Balekin put a wrench in her plans. When she realizes that her adoptive father, the general, was also part of the betrayal of the court, Jude begins to make plans.

Powerless is a fantasy and romance book that is the first book in a trilogy. It is told through the eyes of the two main characters Kai, one of the princes of Ilya, and Paedyn, a thief from the town of Loot. They come from very different backgrounds and when the trials occur in Ilya, they are forced to compete against each other and that forces both of them to make tough choices.

Miller's characters are complex and deeply emotional, their struggles with conscience, guilt and the pressure to conform resonating even today.

Anthem is written by a person who escaped Communist Russia, exploring the negativities of communist society by placing the reader in a dystopian world. In this world, the central idea is that there is no individuality, and the word "I" doesn't even exist. All jobs are assigned to people when they reach a certain age and there is no change allowed. There is one person named Equality 7-2521 who is unlike everyone else in that he is too curious, which earns him the job of a street sweeper.

1984 by George Orwell is great and shows the dangers of surveillance. The book is set in a creepy dystopian future where the government has total control over everything and always watches society's every move. The main character, Winston, is a rebel who starts to question the government's authority.
