Libby was once named the Fattest Teen in the World. Quite a title to give a girl who has just lost her mom and is scared to go to school because of her peers bullying her. Libby hasn’t been to school since 5th grade, and now, on her first day back at high school, she punches a popular boy in the face, named Jack.

Mothers Laurel and Sussanah have been best friends since they were young. So, it became a tradition for them to bring their families together every summer to the summer house at Cousins. Laurel’s kids Belly and Steven come together with Sussanah’s kids, Conrad and Jeremiah. As the kids settle into the home, it becomes apparent that something has changed this summer. Belly has grown up into a young woman. Not only are there physical differences but Conrad is acting differently. The book goes through the summer as the kids change, and romantic feelings develop. I loved this book so much.

In this immersive and riveting story, Feyre’s journey is a rollercoaster of emotions. Faced with haunting nightmares and unimaginable trials, she battles inner turmoil amid politics and harrowing encounters. Her meeting with an unexpected companion leads Feyre to question choices and the path to redemption. It’s a choice of whether or not to let go of the path and how she wishes to shape her future. Maas weaves a fantastical world that effortlessly engulfs the readers. I found myself captivated, reading the entire book in one sitting.

Fourth Wing, written by Rebecca Yarros, is the first book in her fantasy series named The Empyrean series. This book does contain a couple mature scenes, so I would recommend it mainly for teens at least 16 or older or adults. The main character Violet Sorrengail, daughter of the commanding general of Navarre, has been forced into becoming a dragon rider by her mother. She joins Basgiath War College where you either graduate or die a terrible death.

Olivia is expected to be all that her parents want her to be. A prim and proper young lady who will marry well, as the oldest daughter must, host charity events, and she must not be found with people like Washington Dwight. Olivia thinks this is her destiny, even more so when she meets a suitable husband, but will she find all that she is looking for, love? Helen, the youngest daughter, has feelings about men, far different from Olivia. Helen thinks of many men like her brothers, as she works restlessly with them in the garage, working on cars.

This story is the last of the Caraval trilogy, this time, following both sisters rather than just one. The Dragna sisters continue to struggle to find their true love amidst the main conflict of the book: the fates had escaped (from the last book, Legendary) and wanted each of the sisters - and their loved ones - dead. While some wanted to assist them in killing the fates’ creator, ultimately none can be trusted.
