Awkward is about a middle schooler named Pepi Torres. She has three cardinal rules for

surviving middle school. On her first day as the new kid at Berrybrook Middle School, she

makes a mistake that haunts her for the next few months. When she has to get science

tutoring with a boy that she can barely talk to, she must face her fears and break the awkward

silence, I like this book because it is relatable to middle schoolers. My favorite part is when Pepi

Wonder by R.J. Palacio is about a kid named August Pullman who has to try and navigate school for the first time. He hasn’t gone to school ever because August has a rare disease called treacher collins syndrome, so he looks a little different than other kids. August did want to go to school because he didn’t look like all of the other kids. Later on in the book his parents convince him to try and go to school and he does. Even though August had some hard times throughout the year he still made it.
