Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah, is one of my favorite autobiographies. However, I do not

think I can even call this book an autobiography. He doesn’t talk at all about his future life, all he

talks about is his childhood and funny stories from it. Therefore, I like to call it a collection of

memoirs. This book takes place in South Africa during the 80’s, and this is when racism played a

household, and when she was a toddler, her mom developed a cancer that threatened to kill her.

Jennette loved her mom more than anyone else, and would do anything to make her happy. So, in

order to please her mom, she began an acting career to be a child star, despite not enjoying

I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy is a memoir recounting the actress’s

childhood through her twenties, with a focus on her relationship with her mother. Though likely

surprising to her millions of fans, the iCarly and Sam & Cat star never wanted to act. With a

narcissistic mother who had dreamed of being a child star and plenty of money issues in the

family, Jennette was forced to fulfill both her mother’s dream as well as become the

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a nonfiction novel by Rebecca Skloot. The HeLa cells

were used for many medical advancements, such as the polio vaccine and cancer research, but

the family of the woman who gave those cells didn’t learn the truth of what happened with
