In the previous book, The Inheritance Games, Avery, and the others discover that Toby Hawthorne, the son of billionaire Tobias Hawthorne, who was presumed to have died in a fire, was actually alive. And not only was he alive, he and Avery were known to have a close relationship, which was playing chess in a park together.

This mysterious book will leave you on the edge of your seat! Five high school students walk into detention, but only four make it out alive. None of This True, is a cozy gripping thriller that will keep you guessing. Josie Fair is celebrating her 45th birthday at a local pub. There she meets Alix Summers, a podcaster who shares the same birthday. A birthday twin! They bump into each other days later. This time Josie talks about her idea of making a podcast about herself. She convinces Alix that she's going to make a big change soon. Alix has uneasy feelings about Josie but she can't resist the temptation of her curiosity.

Tobias Hawthorne, a billionaire, dies and instead of leaving his fortune to his blood relatives, he leaves it to Avery Grambs, an ordinary teenager. In order to claim her inheritance, Avery must move into his mansion which is filled with secret passages and riddles. The twist is that the relatives of Tobias Hawthorne, who all thought they would inherit his fortune, have to live in the mansion too.

Centered in the small town of Bayview California, McManus’s quick paced writing and addicting style allow readers to get invested from the very beginning. High schoolers Abby, Nate, Bronwyn, and Cooper find themselves in detention with Simon Keheller, the creator of Bayview High’s gossip app, ‘About That,’ which is known for spilling destructive and deadly secrets about Bayview’s students.
