This book follows Elizabeth Scrivener, a curious teenager who grew up among the books and grimoires of her town. Abandoned at the Great Library as a baby, she was raised in the enormous building with the books of magic and mischief. The books are so magical, in fact, that they can even transform into monsters, depending on how powerful they are. Elizabeth is an apprentice librarian when she becomes a suspect in sabotaging the library. Outraged, she teams up with Nathanial Thorn, an insufferable sorcerer who claims he can help clear her name.

I will never trust book Tok again. This “romantasy” (loose on the antasy part of the word) is exactly what the author described it as. A Frankenstein of every single romance-fantasy trope in one book. I don’t believe there is a single original plot within the book. The book takes you through the world of “Ilya” (what a creative name I know) where people called “Elites” reign with their powers and “Ordinaries” are well... ordinary. I love how the book does not let us infer or hypothesis power dynamics within this kingdom whatsoever.

The Raven Boys follows teenager Blue, a normal girl in a family full of psychics. All her life Blue has been told that she will kill her true love when she kisses them. When she is helping her aunt on St. Mark's Eve she sees a spirit, Gansey. There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve, either you’re his true love or you killed him. In Blue's case, it could be both.
